Your NDIS plan holds real potential. A dedicated Support Coordinator helps you unlock it, navigating the system, connecting you with the right services, and making sure your funding is working as hard as you are.
At Sharply Enabling, our Support Coordinator works alongside you to simplify the complex, reduce the overwhelm, and keep your goals at the centre of every decision.
Whether you need a few hours each week, a short term or longer term respite stay, we match your family with consistent support workers who understand your loved one’s routines, communication style and what makes them feel safe.
An NDIS Support Coordinator is a funded role within your NDIS plan that helps you understand what your plan means, how to use it, and how to get the most from it.
Support Coordination is about far more than paperwork. It is the bridge between where you are now and where your plan can take you. Your Support Coordinator works with you to identify the right providers, set up service agreements, monitor your budgets, and help you build the skills and confidence to navigate the NDIS with greater independence over time.
Support Coordination funding sits within the Capacity Building budget of your NDIS plan. It is available to participants whose plans include this funding line, and it is designed to be time-limited — building your capacity so that, over time, you need less help to manage your own supports. This is not always the case, but it is always worked out on a case by case basis, as not everyone and their needs are the same.
Key things your Support Coordinator can help with:
Through the NDIS, respite is typically funded under Core Supports (Assistance with Daily Life) or Short Term Accommodation. At Sharply Enabling DSS, we work with you to understand exactly how respite fits into your plan and how we can deliver it in a way that genuinely works for your family.
Respite isn’t about stepping away from care. It’s about sustaining it. When carers have time to rest, manage their own health, or simply take a breath, they return with renewed energy. And when participants spend time with skilled support workers who know them well, everyone benefits.
We start by making sure you genuinely understand your plan — what each budget is for, how it connects to your goals, and what you are entitled to access. No jargon, no assumptions. Just clear, honest guidance.
Finding the right providers takes time and knowledge. We do the research, make the calls, and help you compare your options so that every service you access is a genuine fit for your needs, culture, and goals.
We review, negotiate, and help you set up service agreements that protect your interests. You will always know what you are signing and why.
Your funding needs to last. We track your spending across all support categories, flag any concerns early, and help you make smart decisions about how your budget is allocated.
We prepare the reports your NDIA requires and support you through plan reviews with the evidence and documentation needed to reflect your progress and future goals.
When things go wrong — a provider cancels, a placement falls through, an urgent need arises — we help you find solutions quickly and calmly. You will not be left to manage a crisis alone.
Our ultimate goal is to support you to need less support over time. We build your skills and confidence in navigating the NDIS so that you feel increasingly in control of your own plan and your own life.
Zakia brings over six years of experience in the NDIS and disability sector to her role at Sharply Enabling, and a depth of knowledge that goes well beyond coordination.
As a qualified Social Worker, NDIS Support Coordinator, and Personal Development and Mindset Coach, Zakia holds a Master of Social Work from Flinders University, along with certifications in Life Coaching and Neuro-Transformation Therapy. Before working in the NDIS space, she spent twelve years teaching and researching in the social sciences internationally – an experience that gave her a rare combination of academic rigour and genuine human insight.
Zakia’s Qualifications and Experience:
What I love most about being a Support Coordinator is seeing participants grow in confidence and achieve goals they once felt were out of reach. Guiding someone through the NDIS system, reducing overwhelm, and helping them feel in control of their supports is incredibly rewarding. Watching someone move from uncertainty to empowerment inspires me every day.
Over her six years supporting individuals with diverse psychosocial, physical, and intellectual disabilities, Zakia has coordinated supports across the full complexity of the NDIS — liaising with service providers, advocating within complex systems, and working collaboratively with families and stakeholders to achieve genuine outcomes.
Outside of work, Zakia is passionate about meditation, creative expression, time in nature, and ongoing personal growth. She believes that staying grounded allows her to remain fully present for the people she supports.
What sets Zakia apart is the way she works. Her practice is trauma-informed, culturally sensitive, and built around each participant as an individual - their goals, their strengths, and their circumstances. She does not apply a one-size-fits-all framework. She listens first. Zakia's focus areas include emotional wellbeing, psychosocial recovery, mindset and confidence, relationship healing, and culturally responsive support. Her background in social work and personal development means she brings both therapeutic insight and practical advocacy into every coordination relationship.
Getting started is straightforward. Here is what to expect.
Support Coordination funding needs to be included in your NDIS plan under Capacity Building. If you are unsure whether you have this funding, we can help you check. Participants whose plans include Support Coordination or Specialist Support Coordination can access Zakia's services.
Contact us to book a free initial consultation. This is a no-pressure conversation where we get to know you, understand your current situation, and talk through how Support Coordination can help you achieve your goals.
Once we agree to move forward, Zakia will begin by reviewing your plan in full and working with you to map out your priorities. She will start connecting you with providers, setting up agreements, and building a clear picture of how your supports will work together.
Coordination is not a one-off conversation. Zakia stays involved — monitoring your budget, reviewing your services, problem-solving as things change, and preparing for your next plan review. You will always have someone in your corner. Book a free initial consultation
Support Coordination is a relationship built on trust. Participants and families place enormous confidence in their Support Coordinator, and that is not something we take lightly.
Sharply Enabling was built from the ground up on values of honesty, consistency, and genuine care. Our Support Coordination services reflect those same values: clear communication, transparent advice, and an unwavering commitment to your best interests.
We follow the NDIS Code of Conduct and industry best practice standards. We will always be honest with you about what your plan can and cannot fund, and we will never recommend a provider or service that we would not be comfortable accessing ourselves.
What you can expect from us:
Yes. Support Coordination is funded through the Capacity Building budget in your NDIS plan. If your plan includes Support Coordination (CB — Support Coordination) or Specialist Support Coordination funding, you can access Zakia's services through Sharply Enabling. If you are unsure whether your plan includes this, contact us and we will help you check.
If your current plan does not include Support Coordination, it may be worth raising this at your next plan review — particularly if you are finding it difficult to manage your supports independently. We can provide guidance on how to raise this with your Local Area Coordinator or the NDIA. Reach out and we will talk you through your options.
A Support Worker provides direct, hands-on assistance with daily living, community access, skill development, and other practical tasks. A Support Coordinator works at the plan level — helping you understand your NDIS funding, connect with providers, manage your budget, and build your capacity to direct your own supports. The two roles work together but are funded differently within your plan.
Yes. Zakia supports NDIS participants across Greater Adelaide, including northern, southern, eastern, and western suburbs. Contact us to confirm availability in your specific area.
Yes. Sharply Enabling provides both Support Coordination through Zakia, and a full range of direct disability support services through our support worker team. Having both under one trusted provider can simplify your experience — though you always have the choice and control to access each service independently if that suits you better. Zakia will work with you to find the right support services for your need, not just within Sharply Enabling DSS
This depends on your individual needs and the complexity of your plan. Zakia will agree on a check-in schedule with you from the outset, and she will always be reachable when something comes up. Regular communication is something we take seriously — you should never feel like you have to chase us.
You deserve a Support Coordinator who genuinely knows you, advocates for you, and helps you build a life you are proud of. That is exactly what Zakia and the Sharply Enabling team are here to do.
Whether you are new to the NDIS, starting fresh with a new plan, or feeling stuck and unsure of your next step — we would love to have a conversation.
