YOU-FOCUSED CARE

In-Home Disability Support That Grows With You

Our approach to supported independent living centres on one question: what does a good life look like for you?

For some participants, that means mastering everyday tasks like cooking, cleaning, or managing a morning routine. For others, it’s about building confidence to eventually move into their own place or a sharehouse. Whatever your goals, our disability support services are structured to help you progress at your own pace with workers who understand your needs.

Sharply Enabling DSS provides in-home support across Adelaide’s northern, southern, eastern, and western suburbs. Our team includes experienced support workers who are carefully matched to each participant based on skills, personality, and communication style.

OUR SERVICES

Therapy-Based Support at Home

Getting the most from your therapy programs doesn’t stop when your appointment ends. Our therapy-based support helps you continue the work between sessions, so the skills you’re building with your allied health team become part of your everyday life.

Goal-Focused Support That Maximises Your Progress

Every hour of support should move you closer to your goals. Our team understand this. Rather than simply filling time, we focus on purposeful activities that align with what you're working toward in your NDIS plan. This approach helps you get real value from your funding and see genuine progress in the areas that matter most to you.

Implementing Therapy Programs in Your Home and Community

Your therapists design programs for a reason, but progress happens when those exercises and strategies are practised consistently. We support you to carry out therapy activities in the environments where you actually live, work, and spend time. Whether it's practising communication strategies at the shops, following a physio exercise routine at home, or working on sensory regulation techniques before community outings, we help bridge the gap between therapy sessions and real life.

Working Alongside Your Allied Health Team

Our support workers take direction from your therapy team to ensure consistency in how your programs are delivered. We collaborate with the professionals guiding your care, including:

This collaborative approach means everyone involved in your care is working from the same page. Your support workers receive guidance on specific techniques, strategies, and goals, so the support you receive at home reinforces what you’re learning in therapy rather than contradicting it.

Time Management and Goal Setting

Learning to plan your week, prioritise tasks, and work toward personal goals builds confidence that extends into every area of life. We help you develop these skills through practical application and ongoing encouragement.

Problem-Solving and Decision-Making Skills

From everyday choices to bigger decisions, we support you to think through options, weigh up outcomes, and build confidence in your own judgment.

Transition Support

Moving into independent living or a new living arrangement is a significant step. We provide dedicated support to help you learn new routines, navigate unfamiliar environments, and adjust to change with confidence.

OUR PROCESS

How We Start Working Together

Our onboarding process is designed to ensure you feel confident and comfortable from the very first meeting.

Step 1: Initial Conversation

We begin by getting to know you. This includes understanding your goals, routines, preferences, communication style, and the type of support that feels most meaningful to you. We discuss the specific supports you're seeking and any unique needs or personal boundaries that matter to you.

Step 2: Worker Matching

Based on our conversation, we identify team members whose skills, experience, and personality align with what you're looking for. You'll have the opportunity to meet potential workers before committing.

Step 3: Meet and Greet

Before supports commence, we arrange a meet and greet so you can connect with your proposed support workers personally. The choice of who joins your team is completely yours.

Step 4: Ongoing Check-Ins

Once supports begin, we continue to check in regularly. We want to ensure our team remains aligned with your values and that your goals and preferences continue to guide our approach.

FAQs

Common Questions About Supported Independent Living

What is supported independent living under the NDIS?

Supported independent living (SIL) is NDIS funding that helps participants with daily tasks in their home. This can include personal care, household tasks, skill development, and overnight support. The goal is to help you live as independently as possible while receiving the assistance you need. Sharply Enabling DSS provides in-home disability support services that align with SIL and other NDIS funding categories.

How do you match support workers to participants?

We take time during our initial meeting to understand your preferences, communication style, interests, and the personality traits you'd like in a support worker. From there, we identify team members who are the best fit. You'll meet potential workers before support commences, and the final choice is always yours.

Can I request the same support worker each visit?

Yes. Consistency is one of our core commitments. We roster the same workers wherever possible so you can build a genuine relationship with your support team. If circumstances require a change, we communicate clearly and introduce any new team members properly.

What areas of Adelaide do you service?

We provide supported independent living and in-home disability support across Greater Adelaide, including northern, southern, eastern, and western suburbs. If you're unsure whether we cover your area, get in touch and we'll confirm.

How does NDIS funding work for in-home support?

In-home disability support typically falls under Core Supports (Assistance with Daily Life) in your NDIS plan. Skill building activities may be funded under Capacity Building. We can help you understand how your plan aligns with our services, and we're happy to liaise with your support coordinator or plan manager.

What if my needs change over time?

We expect your needs to evolve. Our team adapts as your goals and circumstances change, whether that means increasing support, stepping back as you gain independence, or adjusting the focus of your sessions. Regular check-ins ensure we stay aligned with where you're at.
